Revitalizing the City and Innovating the Narratives: A Design Conversation of "Suzhou-style Aesthetics"
“苏式美学”的设计新说

Abstract

Suzhou, the birthplace of Wu culture, is renowned for its more than 60 classical gardens recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and its traditional handicrafts such as painting and calligraphy. Building on this cultural heritage, Suzhou has focused on developing its creative industries and promoting the integration of historical culture and tourism, creative business, technology, fashion, and other creative fields. The Suzhou Design Week aims to build a "design city" and serve as an "industrial capital", with the goal of being "more forward-looking, more Suzhou, and more international". It focuses on three core issues: urban revitalization, industrial innovation, and aesthetics of daily life, showcasing and promoting Suzhou's unique innovative design and urban culture from multiple perspectives. The Suzhou Design Week vividly presents innovative development ideas and achievements in urban revitalization, industrial upgrading, improvement of people's livelihoods, and cultural heritage. It continually drives Suzhou's transformation from the "capital of handicrafts and folk art" to the "design city", and explores the innovative and creative power of Suzhou-style aesthetics in the present day. It always seeks to tell Suzhou's story from history to the future in an international language.
