Abstract

Bangkok, located on the southern coast of Thailand, is a popular tourist destination that strives to balance traditional culture with emerging ideas. Inspired by the rich diversity of the surrounding cultures, the creativity of Bangkok's diverse population is its greatest asset. To ensure the continued development of Bangkok's design industry, the city has implemented several strategies aimed at elevating the status of design professionals. Additionally, design is playing a multifaceted role in promoting regional preservation and improvement, community development, and integration of innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainable development in urban development.

Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW), a government-led collaboration "space" between designers, businesses, and local communities, is a long-standing fixture on Bangkok's event calendar. BKKDW has a stable organizational structure and segmental division, making continuous contributions to the creative industry's development and promoting Bangkok as the "design capital" of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The fusion of traditional and contemporary aesthetics is a fundamental element of the city's design evolution. Artisans, professional suppliers, and creative production communities are ubiquitous throughout Bangkok, and at BKKDW, businesses ranging from small restaurants to international corporations can participate in a manner suited to their needs. BKKDW not only showcases Southeast Asia's cutting-edge design talent but also serves as a catalyst for the city's continuous renewal. For Bangkok, design is an effective means of utilizing local wisdom to meet the challenges of the 21st century and making the city more resilient.

曼谷设计周（Bangkok Design Week,简称BKKDW）是一个在政府机构主导下的设计、商业和地区人民之间有趣的合作“空间”。 BKKDW长期以来一直是曼谷活动日历上的固定项目，它有着较为稳定的组织架构与板块划分，持续为创意产业的发展做出贡献，并推动曼谷成为联合国教科文组织创意城市网络的“设计之都”。传统美学与新式美学的融合构成了这座城市设计变迁的基本要素，在曼谷，工匠、专业供应商和创意生产社区遍布整个城市，而在曼谷设计周，小到一家普通的餐馆，大到一个国际企业，都可以有适合自己的参与方式。曼谷设计周不仅作为一个节事活动展现着东南亚前沿的设计力量，也是一个节点推动着城市不断更新。对这座城市而言，设计是利用当地智慧应对21 世纪的挑战，也是使曼谷成为有韧性的城市的一种有效手段。
