Abstract

For more than two centuries, the connection between art and industry has driven the development of Saint-Etienne and made it a city of constant change. Saint-Etienne, located in the southeast of France, it joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2010, the only French city to receive this title. It has an international exhibition platform, forward-looking research platforms and laboratories. Through close collaboration with institutions like the Saint-Etienne Art and Design College, various design activities have been successful. Since 2005, Saint-Etienne has developed and continuously strengthened a network strategy through the establishment of industrial clusters represented by "City of Design". In the future, it will create a new leisure and cultural center, which is also a truly international design innovation platform. Nowadays, design has become the name card of Saint-Etienne. Transformed from an industrial city into a design-driven city, Saint-Etienne profoundly demonstrates the concept of using design as a driving force and catalyst to stimulate all creative potential.
