Abstract

Nagoya, the capital of Aichi Prefecture, joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2008. As the political, economic and cultural intersection of central Japan, Nagoya has a solid social foundation, especially in manufacturing, education and historical heritage.

As early as the 20th century, Nagoya was keenly aware of the indispensable role of design in urban construction. After experiencing the double test of man-made and natural factors, the city solemnly issued the "Declaration of Design City" in 1989, clarifying the three major development goals of "urban construction", "commodity manufacturing" and "talent training".

In order to cultivate local creative talents and broaden their international horizons, Nagoya actively organizes international competitions and workshops. These activities not only provide a platform for creative talents to showcase their talents, but also promote the cultivation of their innovative abilities and the integration of diverse cultures in society. At the same time, these international activities have also strengthened exchanges and cooperation between Nagoya and the world, significantly enhanced its international competitiveness, and promoted the process of urban internationalization.

In addition, Nagoya also relies on the Nagoya International Design Center to provide professional and powerful support services for creative workers. This move not only creates a good development environment for them, but will also continue to promote the vigorous development of local creative industries and inject continuous innovative vitality into the future of the city.
