Abstract

Muharraq, located in Bahrain, is a pioneering city in the Middle East that joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2019. Thanks to continuous investments, Muharraq's cultural facilities and infrastructure have undergone significant improvements, with the integration of history, art, and architecture serving as the main source of inspiration for transforming urban life. Since becoming a City of Design, the city has focused on highlighting Bahraini traditional culture in urban planning while promoting urban design innovation by supporting local designers. Through hosting various public events, Muharraq has facilitated the integration of international designers with the local creative industry, shaping Bahrain into a vibrant and creative design center.
