Design as a Guideline for Building a High-Quality Life
打造高质量的设计
Abstract
Montreal, the second-largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec,
stepped onto the international stage following the 1967 World Expo and hosted
the Summer Olympics in 1976. Nowadays, Montreal has transformed into a
modern, creative-led city and was named the "City of Design" by UCCN in 2006.
The city views design as a key economic driver and a crucial part of urban
governance, paving the way for high-quality urban spaces and environments.
To promote local design development, Montreal established the Bureau
du design which is dedicated to improving urban planning and fostering
innovative and sustainable design. Montreal also integrates design into its city
branding and promotional activities, promoting design as a vital component
of urban life. By hosting design-related events, Montreal enables local
residents and businesses to realize the value of design. Prioritizing a highquality
living environment, efficient transportation, sustainable design, and
architectural excellence, Montreal has formulated the 2030 Plan to guide its
city development.
Montreal places design at the core of urban governance and brand
promotion, striving to create a city that is creative, sustainable, and inclusive.
This showcases the power of design in shaping vibrant and livable urban
environments.
