Abstract

Geelong, the second largest city in Victoria located southwest of Melbourne, joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2017, becoming the first and only Australian city to receive this honor. UCCN recognized Geelong's design history and its diverse and inclusive approach to design. From the indigenous cultural heritage of the Greater Geelong region to the industrial production of textiles and wool, automotive manufacturing, and surfing culture, diverse cultural production and design are deeply integrated into the local community of Geelong. Geelong continuously emphasizes an embracing attitude towards design, cultivates talent related to design creativity, and fosters a culture of urban design in its design strategies. In design practice, Geelong takes sustainable development as the starting point and advocates for design to make everything better. By adopting clever design methods to facilitate the integration of multiple disciplines and sustainable urban development, Geelong has become a prosperous city full of wisdom and continuous progress.

作为墨尔本西南处的维州第二大城市，吉朗于2017年被评为 “UCCN设计之都”，是澳大利亚第一个，也是唯一一个荣获设计之都的城市。UCCN认可吉朗的设计历史与多样化且包容的设计态度，从大吉朗地区的原住民文化遗产，到纺织品和羊毛的工业生产，汽车制造和冲浪文化，多样的文化生产与设计深深地融入了吉朗的当地社区。吉朗在设计策略上不断强调拥抱设计的态度、培养设计创意相关的人才、培养城市设计文化，在设计实践上以可持续发展为抓手，倡导设计让一切更美好。吉朗采用巧妙的设计手段助力其多学科的融合与城市的可持续发展，使其成为了一座富有智慧且不断发展的繁荣城市。
