Abstract

Dubai, as the shining pearl and economic and cultural heart of the United Arab Emirates, has quickly emerged and become the focus of global attention with its unique geographical location and diversified industrial system. From the original traditional economy dominated by trade and oil to today's development direction centered on cultural creativity and tourism, design has played a vital role in it. Design not only gives Dubai its unique charm and soul, but is also a key support for its sustainable future. In 2018, Dubai became the first city in the Middle East and North Africa to be honored as City of Design by UCCN.

To ensure that design continues to play a significant role and is effectively implemented in urban development, Dubai has established a robust support mechanism covering various aspects such as policy support, financial investment, and talent development. At the same time, Dubai has consistently placed sustainable development at the forefront of its design initiatives, vigorously encouraging designers from all backgrounds to prioritize and innovate in sustainability. These efforts have won Dubai widespread praise from the international community, and provided valuable reference and inspiration for other cities.
