Abstract

Doha joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2021. As the capital and economic hub of Qatar, it has rapidly emerged relying on its oil and gas resources. In response to the challenges brought by the decline in international oil prices, Qatar has pushed for economic restructuring, promoting the development of non-oil industries, reducing its dependency on energy resources, and aiming to achieve economic diversification and modernization, thereby improving the living standards of its citizens. Design has become a crucial lever for the city's transformational development.

Doha has actively integrated green, smart, and cultural elements into its modernization efforts. Through comprehensive projects and design initiatives, it has driven the city's sustainable development and cultural heritage preservation. Furthermore, Doha places emphasis on the development of the creative industries, providing designers with necessary tools and resources to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in design, fashion, and technology. This not only helps to meet the growing demand for design in 􀂦atar but also provides a platform for cultivating local designers and creative talents.

These efforts have not only elevated Doha's image as an international metropolis but also laid a solid foundation for the future smart development of the city. They also demonstrate Qatar's commitment to sustainable development and economic diversification.
