Abstract
Beijing, as the capital of China, not only plays an important role as the
country's political, cultural, technological, educational center, but also becomes
the focus of global attention with its unique international charm. This city is
deeply rooted in rich cultural soil and brings together cutting-edge scientific
and educational resources, demonstrating its extraordinary charm as a City of
Design.
Beijing has been committed to the construction of smart cities for its
development plan in receut decades. Through continuous technological
innovation, it strives to become a model of new smart cities in the world and
create a more superior living environment for urban residents.
Furthermore, Beijing actively engages in a series of international initiatives.
On one hand, through platforms like the International Center for Creativity
and Sustainable Development, it promotes in-depth research and practices
in creativity and sustainable development, contributing Beijing's efforts to
achieve global sustainable development goals. On the other hand, by hosting
events such as the Beijing Design Week, China Good Design Award and
the UNESCO Creative Cities Beijing Summit, it strengthens exchanges and
cooperation with global creative cities.These actions demonstrate Beijing's
unique urban charm and strong strength, winning it more praise and attention
on the international stage.
Beijing joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2012, due to its outstanding
performance in technological innovation and cultural characteristics. Today,
creative design has become a powerful driving force for Beijing's sustainable
development, driving the city forward.
