Abstract

Asahikawa situated in the central part of Hokkaido, Japan, has attracted much attention for its unique traditional culture and natural landscapes. Asahikawa joined UCCN as "City of Design" in 2019, it has successfully found a balance between tradition and modernity through innovative modern design techniques while preserving its local traditional culture and developing the furniture design industry. The city places special emphasis on the development of interior design and furniture design industries, promoting Asahikawa design through design forums, exhibitions, and other activities. Asahikawa design is shaping the city into an important hub for Japan's creative industries, continuously integrating into the global network, cultivating advantageous industries, and developing design innovation power.
