Abstract

Barcelona has been a dreamland for outstanding artists and designers for over a century, and its rich cultural heritage has paved the way for the transformative development of Barcelona Design Week. Established in 2006, Barcelona Design Week has become increasingly important in the World Design Weeks network (WDW) since Barcelona became its new headquarters in 2020. The recent themes of Barcelona Design Week have revolved around solving new challenges facing the world through design. Through the planning of relevant projects and activities, the design week calls on designers to think about problems from multiple angles, while also providing new solutions and possibilities for the industry and the public in a constantly changing environment. Barcelona Design Week places a strong emphasis on the participation of professional talents, diverse visual styles, and sustainable emerging forces, which reflects its effective planning and organizational strategies for continuous innovation. This provides a model for other creative cities to develop new designs. At the same time, Barcelona Design Week pays more attention to the academic and professional development of the design discipline, and demonstrates a particularly prominent inclusivity in design.
